The new ISG CIM (cross-cutting Context Information Management for smart city interoperability) was approved by the ETSI Director General on 19 December 2016 and had its kick-off meeting at ETSI on 9-10 February 2017. The founding members are Telefónica, NEC Europe, Orange, Easy Global Market and iMEC VZW. The ISG will develop a Context Information Management layer which will sit above the oneM2M Service Layer and be used to integrate data for Smart City applications.

The CEN/CLC/ETSI Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities Coordination Group (SSCC-CG) coordinates Smart City related standards being developed by CEN, CENELEC and ETSI in order to avoid duplication and wasted effort. It does not develop standards itself, but can recommend the development of new standards to fill gaps. It also involves associations of cities, such as EUROCITIES and ICLEI, and consumer associations such as ANEC and ECOS. It has a liaison with the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC).

VICINITY consortium had a very active participation during the eHealth Forum 2016 event that took place in Athens, Greece. On the one hand, VICINITY project held a booth in the networking conference area, represented by CERTH, GNOMON and OTE partners, where promotional material was distributed and many interesting discussion took place on the proposed eHealth solution promoted for demonstration of assisted living in Greek elderly people homes in Greece.

VICINITY project was represented during the IOT Solutions World Congress which is the biggest Industrial IoT event worldwide and the leading global event focusing on industrial IOT. IOT Solutions World Congress 2016 (IOTSWC16) is the second edition of this global event dedicated exclusively to joining IoT providers with industry in order to help the latter increase productivity via this disruptive technology.

VICINITY project was represented during the IoT Week, organised by the IoT Forum from May 31st to June the 2nd in Belgrade, Serbia. This event gathered relevant experts from the IoT domain working on Innovation activities, applying IoT to different industries and also the research community.

VICINITY has been represented in IoT EPI booth as part of the platform, there visitors could enjoy project video where main challenges and areas that are going to be addressed were presented.

The Municipality of Pilea Hortiatis together with CERTH organised a two-days workshop in Thessaloniki, in order to bring together municipal health services and technical stuff, in order to properly address the challenges of the VICINITY eHealth Use Case demonstration.
