This was the kick-off meeting of the new CEN/CLC/ETSI Sector Forum on Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SF-SSCC) which will coordinate Smart City related standards being developed by CEN, CENELEC and ETSI in order to reduce overlaps and avoid duplication of work. There will be a wider, more inclusive approach to smart city standards which also takes account of standards being developed elsewhere (e.g. in oneM2M and ISO TC268) so as not to ‘re-invent the wheel’. SF-SSCC will not develop standards itself, but can recommend the development of new standards to fill gaps.

The new ISG CIM (cross-cutting Context Information Management for smart city interoperability) was approved by the ETSI Director General on 19 December 2016 and had its kick-off meeting at ETSI on 9-10 February 2017. The founding members are Telefónica, NEC Europe, Orange, Easy Global Market and iMEC VZW. The ISG will develop a Context Information Management layer which will sit above the oneM2M Service Layer and be used to integrate data for Smart City applications.

On the one hand, VICINITY project held a booth in the networking conference area, represented by CERTH, GNOMON and OTE partners, where promotional material was distributed and many interesting discussion took place on the proposed eHealth solution promoted for demonstration of assisted living in Greek elderly people homes in Greece.
