VICINITY workshop on “Ways to strengthen e-health in Municipalities”

Wednesday, July 27, 2016 (All day)
Thessaloniki, Greece
workshop

Gnomon Informatics S.A., an official partner and Health domain leader of the VICINITY project, organized a workshop referring to the different ways – arising from one of the most important future technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT) – to strengthen e-health services in Municipality level. The event was further supported by CERTH partner

The event aimed to bridge all active actors coming from various Municipalities that offer e-Health citizen customer services and currently collaborate with Gnomon Informatics S.A., both from the supply side (technology providers) and the demand side (end users of technology), and increase innovation activities and promotion of IoT under the VICINITY framework. An additional goal of the event dealt with the answer of the D1.2 questionnaires - created by the VICINITY partners and used in the definition of business barriers and requirements – by the participants.

As part of the continuous communication between Gnomon Informatics S.A. and the collaborating Municipalities regarding e-Health citizen customer services, a 3-section workshop was organized in order to bring different Municipalities together, gather feedback for the current services and brainstorm for possible future additions by taking advantage of IoT technologies.

The event was mainly attended by representatives of collaborating Municipalities that offer e-Health citizen services in Northern Greece (specifically Municipality of Pilea-Hortiatis and Municipality of Serres), along with representatives coming from one of the major hospitals of Thessaloniki, Greece (specifically Papageorgiou Hospital), interested in the ongoing developments on IoT.

VICINITY project raised increased interest in a positive way for the proposed “VICINITY virtual Neighbourhood” concept for allowing IoT interoperability in cross-domains. The participating Municipalities showed great interest on how VICINITY, and especially the envisioned value-added services, could efficiently contribute to the major improvement of the e-Health services they currently offer to their citizens.
