VICINITY project at “ITU-T Focus Group on Data Processing and Management to support IoT and Smart Cities & Communities”
This was the second UN/ITU-T Focus Group on Data Processing and Management (FG-DPM) with 40 participants. The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) is part of the United Nations organisation. It has a membership of approximately 700 organisations including the ministries of communication from most countries.
The scope of FG-DPM (see Terms of Reference) fits well with VICINITY activities and we have been encouraged to participate by EC reviewers.
FGs are open meetings which do not require annual membership fees and all VICINITY partners could contribute by attending in person or online.
David Faulkner participated on behalf of VICINITY and contributed FG-DPM-i-064 “Examples of Use Cases in the Health Sector for Assisted Living” from VICINITY reporting the technology deployed in Pilea-Hortatis. He is a Vice Chair of FG-DPM and so is in a strong position to maximise VICINITY dissemination opportunities.
The official report, and all documents may be downloaded from here. The meeting was expertly chaired by Gyu Myoung Lee (of KAIST- Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).
The next meeting of FG-DPM will be held in Brussels 19-23 Feb 2018 with approximately 4 meetings per year).
Attending this FG will give VICINITY a good opportunity to fulfil our Standards Roadmap and ensure our results are incorporated in international standards.
